America has absolutely adopted the fundamental concepts of the Roman Republic, and the early days of its imperialism (BEFORE the Principate).

The American methods of warfare, government, taxation, and all is essentially a carbon copy of Rome's.

I think we may be. This is a deep question and would require a lot of open and frank discussion. Honestly, I think since our power and influence has spread the world over it is very apt to say we are, in a way, the new Rome. I just hope our eventual decline is not nearly as violent as Rome's.
Just remember, no one stays on top forever.

Absolutely not! They built many roads that are still functional today, we can't keep ours operating for 10 years. Other than that, the answer is still no. Though they were a Republic, they had a caste system that kept slavery in the loop even from the beginning to the end. We abolished that. They also had a merantile system, which we do not have and most important, if you follow the rules, you can become an American citizen, Freeman and slaves never had that option.
