geeeze, I *do* find myself thinkning that way ... and I guess other people do too. I'd also guess that few people have the ability to "compartmentalize" their lives in such a way as to just "turn off" thought-streams.
Have you ever heard the "Helen Keller" story ... the "deaf, dumb and blind kid (apologies to Peter Townshend / "The Who") ... the kid who was in this case a real-life person (girl) ... who, instead of "playing a mean pinball", instead
a) did tactile 'hand-sign' communication learned at great effort thru her 'caretaker' [Annie SUllivan] against all odds ... made into a book and later a movie ("The Miracle Worker")
b) answered online questions at a place called Y!A ...
c) "b" plus "had a day-job" sort of life as well
your pick
go figger
the human mind evolved over millenia to respond to other human beings in whatever channel(s) available
the internet is fairly "new" in terms of civilized society, but the human beings who interact have the same number of chromosomes, same genotype, same phenotype ... just different "communication-intrastructure".
good question .. the kind that "makes yuh think"

" log off mentally " ? ..... doubfully

The Miracle Worker is a play by William Gibson based upon Helen Keller's autobiography, The Story of My Life. It tells the story of the relationship between the deaf and blind Keller and Annie Sullivan, the teacher who brought the almost-feral girl into the world of education. Famed American humorist and author Mark Twain who was an admirer of both, had many years earlier dubbed Sullivan a "Miracle Worker," providing the inspiration for naming Gibson's work.

Yes I do think about people sometimes after I log off answers. There are some lovely and precious ladies on here that I have met and I care about them a lot and hope they are doing well.

Yes. I think about the people who've asked for prayer.
I think of someone's question when I discover the answer to it. (Like someone asked if there will be any new "Naked Brothers Band" episodes. There will. A marathon leads up to it next weekend.)
I think about those who have specific problems with their pets and need advice.
I think about the people who've answered the questions I've posted.
I think the people on Yahoo Answers have gotten to me in a good way. I think about them alot. :) And the thoughts are very good. :D

HA!!! Funny, yeah, I'll mention to people about something funny that I read. I guess I don't think about people because I don't really have a connection with anyone other than P&S. I don't have a 360 website.

Actually, I do. The few people that I have built a on-line friendship with stay in my mind. I wonder how they are, that kind of thing. And any good questions are locked in some section of my brain for future reference. It's all in good fun.

YES!!! Is that not sick? Am I wrong for that or am I just mental? I'm like, "And he posted this question about this and I typed this answer, ha ha ha!" I think the only thing that keeps me out of jail is the fear that I would not have internet access and lose my YA connection.

Sometimes I worry about people with mental health or drug problems. People who say they're going to kill themselves, starve themselves, OD, etc. really get to me.
Most days, if no one has had such an extreme question, when I'm off, I'm off...
