Is this default protection package good or does it barely protect?

Its been awhile since I looked but seems like they used to use McAfee Antivirus which is OK but not great. Used to be better than it is today. It certainly is better than none!

There are better ones but for free... use the AT&T ones.. the yahoo toolbar is great for popup blocking etc.

You should also load and use Windows Defender (free from Microsoft) it will help keep many major issues out. It is not antivirus (although they will try to sell you the full package of tools which includes antivirus).

None of the products that you can buy are 100% so you still need to be careful. And do an online scan every few weeks from sites like http://housecall.trendmicro.com or others.

Just dont load more than one antivirus package whether it be from AT&T AVG Norton McAfee Trend etc ONLY ONE should be used actively. The do the online test occassionally.
