Dear Prashant J,

As a Laker fan- you don't really want to see Kobe go. All the things that Kobe has been saying pretty much mirrors what the fans feel. Laker fans for the past three years have felt like management has not taken steps to be a contending team (how do you explain Smush Parker as your starter for over 160 games)???

I know fans are frustrated and as much as i support Kobe he has not gone about this the right way and people want it to stop! However, you can't make the same mistake you made with Shaq. You've to get equal value (or near equal value) for Kobe.

Kobe is by far the most competitive guy in the NBA and he wants to play somewhere with a shot at the ring. Chicago doesn't want to gut their team and frankly what the heck do the New York Knicks have that the Lakers could possibly want???

i think if the Lakers want to trade him wait at least another year. KG will be available as well possibly Gilbert Arenas. You can get comprable value. Plus in a year Kwame Brown's contract comes off the books and you can also trade Lamar Odom because He's due 13.2 million and he could walk in 2 years. It'd buy you another year with Bynum though if he doesn't improve drastically from last year- you're losing trade value- esp. if you trade Kobe or he walks.

I say wait- and see if you can get comprable value. You say that you don't want to trade him in the West- but if you wait- what if by the trade deadline the Lakers are clearly not contenders- they could trade him then to a Phoenix or a surprise team in the East (that's mediocre but has a shot to get a decent playoff seed cuz it's the East) and he could be that player that pushes them to the next level- and the Lakers could maybe stockpile some draft picks or something. Right now with him wanting out there are few dance partners and the NBA salary rules make it difficult to move him and not let the Lakers get ripped off badly. That already happened once with Shaq.

If you take the chance and let Kobe walk after 2 years- you have a crap-load of money and can still attract a star or two based on the fact that it's L.A.

i hope they keep him and get some pieces around him.

Go Lakers!

Where Kobe goes, I go.

But as for the best thing to do, I think it will be the trade.

The Lakers are going nowhere, no plans at all, and they are just trying to give Kobe another false hopes of championship material team, again...

I don't care about the Lakers franchise, mainly because the management does no good at all.

Now, they will be losing probably the greatest player in the NBA because of mismanagement.

I'm not sorry for the Lakers.
neither for the fans.

I really don't think Kobe will do good with the LAkers roster, especially with mediocre players around him.

Never. I don't want Kobe gone. I'd rather Lakers trade Brian Cook, Andrew Bynum and Vladimir Radmanovic for Kevin Garnett and then get another PG.

I need Kobe to help my Knicks out getting Isiah Thomas fired! Come on, Kobe, the Knicks need your whining about the management! Do some good and help Isiah get fired! Do your thing, Kobe!

KoME is a drama queen that creates problems for
everyone, ask Shaq and Malone, Mitch Kubchak,
Jerry Boss.
I want him gone because I care about the Lakers and
with him they can't win (and have not).
I don't want him on my team because he has shown
a patter of finger pointing and blaming others.
No thanks.
