I would like to know if anyone has ever gotten a positive blood pregnancy test and a negative hpt? If so, how late was your period when you were still getting negative hpts and how far along were you before you got a positive hpt. Also, what size are you? I want to know if there is a link between false negatives and body types. I guess this would be considered a survey. Please give me a many details as possible because im dealing with this issue myself right now...Thanks

I did. I never got a positive hpt, and I found out from the blood test when I was 5 weeks. I started hpts the first day of my missed period for almost a week. That's when I went to the doctor and got the positive blood test. I'm pretty small. . .about a size 2.

Yes, this happened with my first pregnancy and when I was pregnant with our fourth child. The blood pregnancy test detects the hormone levels in pregnancy far earlier than a home pregnancy test. I've never heard that body size has anything to do with it. I was super skinny less than a 100 lbs and 5 ft 7 in with my first pregnancy and about 130 lbs when I was pregnant with our fourth child. The blood test is more reliable, if there is a question of viable pregnancy the doctor can always perform a quanatiative HCG test to ensure the pregnancy hormone is increasing every 24-48 hours. A blood test is always considered a more reliable test for pregnancy as it detects the hormones in blood and at earlier levels than a HPT. If your blood test has given you a positive result don't even worry about what the HPT test result is. A positive blood test is very reliable. :)

This deals with the question I have asked today. I had suspected implantation bleeding on May 26-28. I took a test on June 3. Neg. I retested on June 8. Neg. I am still having pregnancy symptoms and I plan to go to the Dr. and get a blood test done this week. I am a size 9 Juniors by the way. I wanted to know If I could still be pregnant even with two neg. tests. I have only gotten four answers so far and I hope to get more. Anyone reading this Please answer my question!

I had negative urine tests for pregnancy with each of my children. Mine never were positive and the Dr never found out why. All my blood tests were always positive. I always knew when I was pregnant anyway because I always got really bad morning sickness immediately. I was various sizes with each child so I don't think that made a difference with me. I had three healthy children though so it didn't affect that at all. Blood tests are more accurate.

That happened to me with my current pregnancy. I took a hpt and it was negative and went to the hospital and had a positive blood test. I was just very early in my pregnancy and thats why my hpt was neg.

I was 7 weeks and still got a negative urine test, but i knew i was pregnant. I finally got a positive at 8 weeks.
