Because they come into the conversation with a pretty good idea of what they want already. Sometimes they ask for advice so that they will feel like the tried to be objective -a false sense that they "did everything" they could. Sometimes (particularly women) want someone to just listen and really don't want advice.

Most people don't like to be told what to do even if what you are saying is best for that person! All you can do is try to give the advice but they probably won't listen anyways!! They have to learn the hard way!!

Most people don't really want advice even if they say they do. They just want someone to hear them out and agree with the way they want to do something. Then when you don't agree they pretend it was great advice and do it their way anyway.

Because most often when people ask for advice they are more getting it off their chest and not asking what they should actually do. In fact most the time when people have asked me for advice its because they are going to do something retarded and they want someone else to say its okay. I say follow your heart and land on your head.

most people listen to my advice but at the end of it, they're the one who'll decide... I can only give an opinion but they're the one who will choose the options

because they're in their right to make bad choices and you should listen and if they don't want your advice then just be there when they'll fall
