I recentely hooked up an amplifier and subwoofer in my boat and initially had everything working great. As soon as i got the boat into the water and tried to turn it on the ignition beeped but the engine would not turn over. When i would turn the key the negative side of the battery would spark at the connection. As soon as i disconnected the amplifier the boat start just fine. Does anyone have any ideas? I've tried everything i can think of and have also made sure that all my connections were as tight as possible.

The only time any electrical connection will spark is if the electricity has to jump a gap.....loose connection. Recheck the integrity of your negative battery terminal and clamp.
