No body teaches them or tells them that I can see? They don't see adults running around screaming.

It has been my experience that little boys yell and little girls scream. This often takes place when kids are running, playing and excited. It is an age stage; but I am wondering if it is a post back to the adults? It seems to change intensity or be lacking when adults are in sight. Some primates screech messages. What did or does the little girls screaming really say?

You are correct, girls do scream, boys do not, so why not? I suspect it is because "they can". The vocal cords of little girls actually can get a "hitch" where they can sustain a scream. Very little boys can have this too, but grow out of it by the time they are 3 or 4 and it comes out more of a yell. The yell takes more breath, so they can't hold it as long. The high pitched scream is one way a girl can call attention and be annoying at the same time...and don't think they don't know it. However, they don't always scream for attention; they sometimes scream when they are simply having a good time. Why? Because they can. Take a look at a group of little boys running around yelling like wild animals...now imagine the same group being girls and see if you can even remember the girls "yelling"...you probably won't...why not? because the girls "yell" would come out as screaming. Having raised two girls and a number of their friends, I've personally seen them standing around taking turns "screaming". When I asked them what they were doing they said they were seeing who could scream the highest, the loudest and the longest. They do it for attention because they know that it is something they are told to stop doing and that it will draw immediate attention to them. Fear, anger, whatever, is secondary to the fact that they have the ability to sustain a scream beyond an adults ability to tolerate or ignore it.

I really think it's for attention. Kids that lack attention at home, especially little girls, would do anything for attention, especially scream.
I have a cousin, though, that is going to be a 2nd grader, and she gets away with everything. She gets ALL of the attention. Maybe it's because when they don't get their attention, their need for attention goes off, so yes, lack of attention works.

girls scream because they are young enough and unbias enough to see the fundamental problems of the world they will soon inherit, they scream out of terror for the responsibility they will soon be presented, and the fact that they will one day spread there legs and give birth, however then they are shown the joys of barbies and forget about the issues they once shrieked over until pueberty when they let loose their inner fears through pointless flirting and manipulation.
