An organism's 'niche' is its place in the system: where it is found, what it eats, what eats it, how and where it gets food, etc. You can define a niche by some or all of these factors, or by others that seem important to you. Depends what you're thinking about. If predation is what you're most interested in, then the 'niches' you might consider could be defined by factors that include the style of predation, where the organism hunts, and what kind of food it prefers. Niches are often limited and their boundaries defined by where organisms bump up against each other and set behavioral boundaries through competitive interactions. The idea of 'niche' is mainly important as an ecological definition that can allow you to compare different organisms in terms of how they occupy and exploit their niches.
