My outdoor cat of 8 years disappeared yesterday. Not sure if runover, coyote got it or if someone took it. I am going to hope someone took it and wanted it for a pet. He was a good pet and a great mouser. Amazing he was able to survive so long out side. Even though at times I let him in the house especially during the winter months. Anybody out there lose a pet recently by death or run away? Is difficult no?

Yes, he was neutered years ago. Also, as a kitten someone dumped him and his brother at a lake to die. Four years ago he got run over by a car, and the woman driving behind stopped and took it to the vet. Yes, he had a good life.

It's very difficult. It's been 2 years and I still miss my Frisky. I had her for 17 years. She was bought for me by my step father who passed away a few years after her purchase. She was special to me. I look at pictures and remember the good times and remember how happy she was here with me. I'm sure she had a good life. I got a new cat before I had to put her down, that made it a little bit easier. I'm very grateful for my new baby. She makes life so much happier. Maybe you should think about getting another cat? Think about it and give yourself time to grieve. It will take a while.
Just remember the good times.

A cat kept outdoors is not "your pet."

I did lose a cat years ago, a purebred silver persian. I couldn't find her anywhere in the house, so I arranged for a sitter for my daughter and started planning the wanted posters in my head. As I was ready to go out door to door asking neighbors and to have the posters made up, I looked at my bed. It had a feather comforter on it, made up and perfectly smooth. I grabbed a corner of the comforter and threw it back. There, flat as a pancake and happy as a clam, she looked up and blinked at me.

It is amazing he survived outside. The outside is full of danger and cats often perish, in not very nice ways, outside.

Let alone, all the birds they kill.

Was he neutered? If not, he may come back. Have him neutered IF you care for him.

Losing a friend is very sad. Grief takes time to get over.

My dog past away last May. At first it was probably the hardest thing I had to go through. But then I started thinking about all the good times we had, and It kind of got my focus off the fact she wasn't there anymore. After about the first month my life went back to normal.
