I've read another question & answer about how some women stop wearing their engagement ring after they have tided the knot. Their husband has shelled out a lot of money for that ring. What does she do with it? It seems like a waste to keep it stored away in a box.

The way I see it, the engagement ring is the first symbol of love, promise and lifetime commitment from a man to a woman. I believe the engagement ring should be worn as a symbol of that promise. I have been married for seven years and would not dream of keeping my engagement ring in a box. What is the point in that? To me my engagement ring no matter how big or small is a symbol of my husbands love for me. I will go to my grave with the ring on my hand. That is how much it means to mean. Not monetary, but the love which came behind the giving of the ring. To me this is special and should always be a reminder of that love.

The earrings move at the identical finger - left ring. The marriage ceremony band is going on first - after the rite - and the engagement ring is going on subsequent. Maybe your mother's marriage ceremony band does not are compatible anymore and that's why she does not put on it.

The engagement ring is meant to be worn with the wedding ring closer to your heart on the finger. That's why it's a set.

The wedding ring goes on first , closer to the heart, the engagement ring goes on next.

A good jeweler will solder them together so the act as one and not wear.

I continued to wear my engagment ring until just recently (we've been married a little over a year). I'll still wear it out on special occassions, but not everyday to work.

Ummm.... most women continue to wear their engagement ring WITH their wedding band. That's why so many of them come as a set, so they can easily be worn together....

I only wear mine to special occasions, I don't want to wear it to work since I work in a kitchen & it could get lost or real dirty when I work w/ the food
, a good find for someone else & a great loss for me .

I got all the papers on mine & also got it insured w/
our home Ins.
better to be safe then sorry after all that money was spent on it

I still wear mine but I have a friend who's lost some weight since she got it and it means so much to her she won't have it sized. She says if she'd gained 10 lbs and they could stretch it a bit then maybe but she will not have it cut.

Now she only wears hers on special occasions because she's terrified of losing it.
