I nominate Louisiana. They knew Jefferson took a bribe, and re-elected him anyway. They also had Ed Edwards as governor ("Shore I took de monnay! Man han' you a groc'ry sack fulla hunnerds, what would YOU do?"). I sometimes wonder if they vote for whoever they think is most deserving of the graft.

By far the most politically corrupt state is New Jersey, especially the counties Hudson and Essex. If you want to see crooked politics then this is the place to go and a big time crooked city is Bayonne. The FBI have been all over these guys like you wouldn't believe, I won't say anymore about this so this way I don't get in trouble

California. Followed closely by New York. There is so much that goes on in the two states and the governments can just not control it.

New York. Everything is controlled by one man,a de facto dictator named Sheldon Silver,Shelly to his friends. Nominally he's the speaker of the state house. In reality nothing happens unless Shelly wants it to happen. The governor is a mere figurehead.

While there is a degree of corruption in the government that most of us dislike, I assure you that it is insignificant compared to other countries. I have lived in countries several of the worst ones, the Philippines and Mexico are the top two.
You have no idea how much better our system is.
