I'd like to make myself a babydoll style dress because I can't find any at the stores I go to because of the hick town I live in. Does anyone have any ideas on what could help me sew it from a pattern? If I can find a pattern in Wal-mart? Thanks!

Simplicity and McCalls both have the babydoll dress pattern you want. See the links I have provided.

What kind of materials? Prints? Colors? It would be wise if you could provide as much details as possible for this question. After all, these factors pretty much dictates what are the best ways to wear the babydoll dresses. Remember, proportion is the key when it comes to wear this style of dresses and certainly, a fuller figure person should NOT even consider wearing this style at all, of course, unless that person is expecting.

WalMart also handles New Look patterns and the "See-n-Sew" or "It's Sew Simple" patterns. Go have a look. Stick with New Look or Simplicity if you can. McCall's easy ones are ok, but their regular ones can be a bit tricky.

If you don't know how to use a pattern book, just open it and find the style you want and make a note of the pattern number. Then go find it in the pull-out drawers. It's pretty straightforward. Some of the less expensive ones don't have books. They are displayed on twirly racks in the fabric department.

You can find a pattern at walmart, but I find the sizing on the pattern companies at walmart turns some people away (they say I'm 3 sizes bigger than I really am). That, and I prefer more of a European style than what I can get from them.

There are some really great places on the web to find patterns for very reasonable prices (sometimes free!):

http://www.burdastyle.com/pattern - these are downloadable and you print them off at home (tape the sheets together to make your pattern). Very inexpensive, and some are free (like this one which I *think* may fit your needs - http://www.burdastyle.com/pattern/show/15 ).
More downloadable patterns here:

If you haven't looked at craftster.com in their forums, someone may have posted a tutorial to do a dress without a pattern - that may help too.
Good luck!
