You need a lesson in history. Affirmative action was to right a wrong done by this country against blacks and other minorities. Slavery, it was not for them to get special treatment over white people where did you get that from. Why is it so important about whites and non white. that's what is wrong with America today it should be color blind. It has given some whites the feeling of superiority they shouldn't have just because of and accident of birth. Non-white as you put it want a hand up not a hand out. It has nothing to do with being liberal. Republicans started parts of affirmative action., visit the library soon

No, because I hear conservatives use the same ignorant ideas. The only difference is that when conservatives use this kind of idea, it means we are going to bomb some poor little 3rd world country back into the stone age. Then when it goes bad, conservatives blame anyone but themselves.

Liberals use their ignorance to act as big brother and correct minority 'mistakes'. Conservatives don't usually even give people in other countries that much credit. To many of them, foreigners are a bunch of ignorant non-Americans, and why should we do anything for them anyways?

I hardly think that attitude is better than liberal paternalism.

Arrogance and ignorance cut across the political spectrum.

It's also called the "white man's burden" and it originated from imperialistic policy centuries ago... It's part of the reason we went to war in the middle east (democratization) and it is part of the reason we've made the immigration policies we have today.

People answering this question need to realize that "liberal" does not necessarily pertain to the party lines that we have drawn in America... The other WIDELY used definition of the word as it pertains to government forms is more appropriate here...

EDIT: I just read all of the other answers... I think the point was all together missed.

I like your answer. Another example of Liberal hypocrisy. They want us to interfere in poor country's economy's but when it comes to freeing them from a cruel dictatorship they say we cant do that.

I think Liberal white arrogance is pretty self explanatory. If that guy doesnt know what Liberal White or arrogance is he better go back to school.

You have raised an interesting point. I think it's mostly arrogance, but while our nation is far from perfect, what makes other nations need so much help? I know that other government's jeopardize their own people's welfare, but I sometimes wonder how it gets as far as it does before it negatively effects their people.

I don't think it is arrogance. I don't think that is the right way of thinking. Affirmative Action was certainly not arrogance. It was something that was created to try and make things equal, however it was nearly enough. Understanding and compassion is what is needed. That takes time.

No. Just as a counter-example, there is a flood of poor immigrants from Eastern Europe to the West. They are white.
