It depends on the goals espoused by the ideaology. The ideaology of communism, for instance, espouses violent global revolution. That's not something you want being spread around your rule-of-law nation. Aside from ideaologies that push agendas that include violence, overthrowing the state, or systematic oppression based on race, class, religion, etfc, though, most should enjoy the protection of freedom of speach.

Ideaology, as dangerous as it can be, cannot and should not be controlled. What seems like an evil ideology now may be looked at in a different light in the future. The most common example today is Islamic extremism but Christian extremism could be considered filthy also, ie: discrimination against people of other religions, discrimination against homosexuals. The quality of the ideology is defined by the person with it and observer of it. The British rebels, our freedom fighters and fore fathers, were considered violent terrorists. I'm sure the first responder wouldn't consider our representative form of government violent. It's simply a viewpoint. Sometimes it gives people reason to act in a violent manner but that is the risk of freedom. We live with risk because we would be controlled otherwise.

How can you regulate an idea? It's impossible. You could limit exposure in the news media, film, literature, etc. but people can still talk in private.

I personally do not want to live in a country where free press and free speech do not exist or have severe limits put on them. I don't even like the idea of censorship. I believe people should be able to say what they want (outside of threats and inciting violence/panic) and hear the things they want without the government involved.

I believe that no form or expression of thought should be prohibited by law. It impedes progress and is an insult to basic human dignity to try to controll the way other people think. Read 1984.
