I'm partial to the epidural, morphine right into the spine. But the general anesthesia isn't so bad. They can give you medication in your IV to make sure you don't feel sick after the morphine, too.
You know John Lovitz, that hilarious guy from Saturday Night Live? My last anesthesiologist looked EXACTLY like him. So I laughed and laughed thinking it was John Lovitz. Gotta love morphine and Versed.
Hope it goes well for you, take care.

I've had a few and I like general because you're out, you're awake and it's all done. Local anesthetic kinda creeps me out, just laying there while someone is cutting you open kinda gave me the willies.

If I'm having any kind of surgery I wanna be completely knocked out. That way if something goes wrong, I won't know it. You'll be fine. Don't worry. :o)

I wouldn't consent to a general for any extremity surgery, period. I'd only take one with hesitation for chest/abdominal surgery.

Generally you do not get to decide that, the Dr. who is doing the surgery in almost all cases decides that...
