Does Iraq seems stable to you? Terrorism is not dead, it is very much alive my friend. Cut and run if you will, but they will be following us home if we do. War isn't pretty, and freedom is not free. Get over it.

Yah! We can just put an ad in all the papers over there offering the terrorists $1000 apiece if they sign an oath declaring they will never to try to sneak into the US. Then the Democrats can take all the money saved fighting terrorism over there, and give it to people like me so that I'll vote for them.
I declare this to be the best answer for this question, so gimme my ten points!
Hey, this damn beer bottle cap doesn't unscrew, and I don't have a bottle opener. Damn foreign beers. I know ... I'll just declare the beer to be in my mug!

As long as countries invade and occupy other countries, people will fight against the invading country. Some will attack legitimate military targets and be labeled as terrorists. Some will attack political targets and be labeled as terrorists. Some will attack civilian targets and be labeled as terrorists.
If we didn't have military bases in 50 countries, we wouldn't be a target of terrorism. Though most of our European and Asian allies might not mind our military presence, Middle East countries do mind. We're just rude, and now we're experiencing a rude awakening.

"Can't we just declare that terrorism is now dead, for all extents and purposes, and call it a day? "
The liberal politicians already have - it comes in several different flavors: cut and run, immediate withdrawal, set timetable for withdrawal, publicly announcing that the United States has lost the war, attaching pork to a troops funding bill, trying to micro-manage the war, kissing up to Middle east tyrants and generally undermining our troops and military.

Sure, we can do that. Bring all our military home immediately and call it a loss. Then we can wait until they attack again, another 9/11, and then another and then another and then another while our democratic congress and senate sit on their dead a$$es and do nothing like Reid and Pelosi want us to do now. Once the attacks on the US start again, they will wring their hands and whimper "why is this happening? we talked with them"

Since when is terrorism dead. Didn't we just stop an attempted attack on an airport not too long ago.
Edit: Bobo, we can't fight the terrorists on the "home field". It's not going to be a gun fight, it's going to a guy with a bomb blowing something up. And that bomb might be a really nasty one.

That's what the Clinton administration did and the terrorists bombed our USS Cole, WTC (the first time), our embassy. If we stop fighting them now where they breed they'll just follow us back home.

When an enemy of Israel defends itself against Israel or USA invasion and occupation, it is known as "terrorism". When the USA and/or Israel drop 500 lb bombs on Muslims neighborhoods killing thousands of innocents it is known as "spreading democracy". The hypocrisy is so blatant it is unbelievable. I am ashamed to be associated with such murder as my government has inflicted on innocent people.

Kinda like the war on drugs...It's just easier to say we won than face the reality of the complexities of the problem, isn't it? Pretty gutless if you ask me.

Terrorism is not dead, it will never be. Not just in the Middle East, either. There are terrorists in the U.S. today. Whether it's the KKK or conservative Christians bombing abortion clinics, it's going to be here until the end of time.
