Cold air intake, upgrade plug wires, better flowing exhaust(complete system) with good muffler.

Perhaps everyone didn't get the question about you not wanting to race your car. If you do a full exhaust change then you're going to be picked on to race just by the sound. Do the intake cause it helps the engine breathe better. Keep the same muffler, the intake will give it a nice little roar. Better spark plugs, wires, and just get an msd ignition box. Not only will it boost your engines perfomance and response, but give you better gas mileage. Later just upgrade to a stage 2 clutch from any checkers and your set! You'll be sure to push every bit of stock horsepower the car already comes with. You can find an msd 6a box relatively cheap on Ebay on a good day for about 60 bills. Don't believe the hype, you don't need an external coil to hook it up. The box will do. Clutch about 180.00. wires - 25.00, spark plugs about 10.00. The best of luck to ya!

You don't have to " turn your car into a ricer" for it to be a tuner. I take it you don't want a coffee can for a muffler. Well you can put an after market cold air intake on it. Or you could get a bigger exhaust. Not a fart can, just bigger piping and a muffler that flows better. Think of your engine as a giant air pump. The better your engine flows air in and out, the more power. Now, don't go extreme and not expect to have to do other things. If you go nuts you may have to get bigger cc fuel injectors. But a cold air intake, a decent exhaust system, and maybe a computer chip that you can find on ebay will give you noticable performance.

Cold air intake and cat back exhaust then find a Engine Control Module upgrade. But first find a dynometer to do some base line pulls on in your area with the stock car. Get a print out then install above parts and preform some more Dynometer pulls and get a chart. You should be able to get 25 more Hp and that is no small feat.
In the old days we changed carburetors put on exhaust headers camshafts tore down perfectly good motors and put in pistons and Cly heads to get 20% more power. Today we do it with a Lap top and less than 1,000 dollars

1>change the air filter to a K&N air filter for better breathability, or for more money, a cold-air intake system 2>2"catback exhaust with a good muffer, not a rattle can.
3>Nology spark plug wires.
4>synthetic motor oil
5>Lighter wheels with one level lower profile tires.
After that, the money bucket has to come out and you start putting out the big bucks. Headers are a nice option.
