With the rumors swirling around Bonds, Griffey, and Sosa some team could add 1800 career homers to their outfield.
This trade would solve several problems for the Cubs by adding an outfielder with left-handed power, good fundamentals (and an occasional SB or outfield assist), and playoff experience. Marshall and Jones have some value but neither will be an All-Star.
We also have some shortstop rumors floating around.
I do remember that the White Sox wanted Griffey in 2005 and there were some negotiation problems.
Two thumbs up.

What station did you hear this on? This has to be another Bors and Berstein special where they just make 'what if' scenarios.
I don't think this is even close to happening, but I would definitely do it in a heartbeat if it is.
6 weeks ago, you would have done it, also. Do 6 starts for Marshall in the span of a career really raise his stock that much? He didn't even make the team at the beginning of the season.
Anyone who thinks that Jacque Jones is a good person to have on your team hasn't watched a game in a few years. I can't stand the way he throws into the ground and whines every time he strikes out looking.
It won't happen. Griffey is the face of the Reds. If I were a Reds fan, I would feel like the team slapped me in the face.

I dont think either team would make that deal. The Reds would trade Griffey for good young pitching, but Im not sure Marshall fits that bill. Rich Hill would be more the Reds' target, or a top phenom in AA. The Cubs are unlikely to make the deal unless they win more games and have a chance to pass the Brewers by the end of July. If the Cubs remain in contention by late July and the Reds continue to fade, look for a possible deal to be made involving the Cubs and Dunn. Id see Dunn going for Marshall, but the Cubs would need to trade Hill to get Griffey.

No. The Cubs do not need Griffey. There are too many outfielders in the Cubs system. Murton was sent to AAA to get him enough at-bats. Griffey would not help the Cubs. They need to get unload Jones to free up room, but not to jam up the outfield more.

Jones hasn't produced as well as expected, Marshall has a lot of potential however. including Barrett would be great for the cubs but not too many teams want a cancerous clubhouse presence either.

really... personallly Jacque Jones is having the worst career of his life i thout he'd do what he did last april and may and stuggle but its the midle of June and he has lost it all.. not just in his bat but in his arm hes been lacking all yr throwing out base runners! i'd rather c them trade Guzman, Cherry, not Floyd..
that would not be the best idea in trading Marshall from his record and how he is improving his pitches would be unquestionalble it will be ignorant bc of the cubs history in trading great arms to other teams Maddux, Moyer, Lieber, Clement [05] version, Kyle Farsworth, Joe Boroskie, ect..
Jim Hendry is out of his mind!

I love Jacque Jones, and think that he is very underrated, and Cliff Floyd has exceptional power, but is getting old. I think the sox would have to throw someone very attractive to the reds, maybe an A.J. Pierzynski?? But I seriously hope Junior isn't in any serious trade talks before the weekend. I have tickets just to see his return to Seattle!

NO WAY. i dont care if they get rid of jones, but marshall is too good. anyways it seems for the short run their outfield is set with soriano pie and floyd. eventually theyll have to replace floyd with someone younger, which would not be griffey

NO way because the Cubs are a Fight Club more then a Baseball Club, look at what happened to Derrek Lee on Saturday, Alfonso on Friday, Sweet Lou, Zambrano, Barrett a Couple weeks ago, these Guys acted like tough Guys, then they act like Clowns, I don't hate the Cubs, I just want them to Play like Grown-ups.
