"Song of the Lioness" Quartet (4 books) by Tamora Pierce. Starts off with "Alanna the First Adventure." About a girl who wants to be a knight, and her twin brother wants to be a sorcerer, so they switch places and she pretends to be a boy. Many swords and sorcery type adventures, as well as the difficulty of growing up a girl while pretending to be a boy.

The bullying part is in the first book - she's smaller than the other boys her age, and a boy several years older than her starts to pick on her and beat her (not knowing she's a girl). In the later books she is not liked by many nobles simply because she is a girl who tricked them (girls aren't supposed to do lots of things). She intends to prove that they are wrong about her and that she is just as good as any male knight.

Also, different series, set several years later in the same land, "First Test: Protector of the Small". A girl is now allowed to become a knight openly, and Kel is determined to be the first. Somewhere along the way at the knight school hazing became a part of the culture. Kel is determined to teach the mean boys that it is wrong. After all, they are training to be knights, protectors of anyone weaker.

All other books by Tamora Pierce are also excellent.

Lord of The Flies. It's not just the main character who has to deal with bullying, but it is also like 4 other characters who have to deal with Jack's mean comments. This book is really good. Enjoy! Happy reading!!

TONI MORRISONS-THE BLUEST EYE
Please read it.Its a work of great depth. Its about the terrrible consequences of a small black girl bullied or exploited by most people around her.
I think Fanny in JANE AUSTENS-MANSFIELD PARK is also a bullied or supressed character because she is an orphan.A wonderful light classic like other of Austen's novels.
SULA by TONI MORRISON -the protagonist is bullied and she grows up into a defiant young woman though this book is more serious and less interesting.
Jane in JANE EYRE BY CHARLOTTE BRONTE is a bullied character who is always tried to be supressed by people even as she grows up.A feminist work.
PARADISE BY TONI MORRISON is about women who are bullied and exploited and finally find great freedom in bonding and find wonderful lives for themselves under the Sun.I loved this book.
CATCHER IN THE RYE BY J.D. SALINGER- A HIGHLY ACCLAIMED WORK like the other ones I mentioned
well there are many more too.........
