For years it was a procession behing Shcummy in a Ferrari, now we have Lewis and Fernado in McLarens. Before that it was Williams/Benetton.

I realise this might upset racing fans but...
Would it be more interesting if they made the starting order the reverse of the previous race and got rid of qualifying?

yes billym, but wouldn't mean that it was difficult for some to win two in sucession?
Also if you got 'taken out' you would be compensated for in the next race.
Surely if F1 has any entertainment value at all it is in the overtaking?

Of course there is a point to formula 1. It is the pinnicle of auto racing and over the years has provided some of the most spectacular battles seen on racetracks(prost/senna, schumacher/hill, schu/hakkinen, villeneuve/arnoux).

I do however have a huge problem with the direction the sport has gone.

Formula 1 is about the teams as much as the drivers yet the FIA seem to be insisting on making it a sport dominated by the big manufacturers rather than independant teams. In the 80s/90s the vast majority of the teams were independant and manufacturers only provided engines. All the teams had passionite supporters because the people that set them up were genuine motor racing fans only interested in winning. Now it is teams like Toyota/Honda/Red bull who no one gives a toss about. They are only in it as a marketing campaign and will pull out of it as soon as those perceived marketing benefits are deemed unjustified.

The ridiculous rules limiting engine/aero developments have destroyed the spectacle. Teams getting the most of their engine and possibly breaking down was one of the thrills not this "the engine must last for 2 races and no one will ever get a chance to finish in the points other than the good/rich teams because the cars dont break down anymore, wont that make for great racing Bernie?!!".

Also the fact that the tracks have been neutered completely and the drivers arent punished for making mistakes because of all the tarmac runoff area is ridiculous.

Finally the thought that the might be bringing in stability control really does send a shiver through my spine...

So i guess no there isnt a point to it anymore but not for the reasons you say. There always were dominant teams and thats not really a problem, the problem is that it is now almost impossible to beat the dominant teams because there is no flexibility in the rules, the good cars are too reliable and the drivers dont get punished for making mistakes

I think you miss the point. Reversing the starting order would do nothing because if a driver made a mistake early on that ruined their race they would retire so they started high up the grid next race, so that is a stupid suggestion. As for it being Lewis and Fernando that are going to walk this championship this year. They probably will but the Ferrari's are improving as are the Williams. And most other teams. A Super Aguri (Takumo Sato) overtook a McLaren (Fernando Alonso) so I think the competition is very open.

Reverse grids are practiced innthe feeder to the F1 series, GP2. Proves to be qute interesting. maybe they could try that. LAst time something like that happened in F1 was Suzuka 2005. Quali was messed up by rain so Kimi, Montoya and Alonso started at the back of the grid. That was some race, man!

yet would not that mean communities who've little danger or no danger of having interior the best 3 won't in any respect get a medal? a minimum of with the standards device now we are able to decide on the seasons end who did extra advantageous, which group did extra advantageous, who became extra consistant. merely awarding the 1st 3 could additionally help be attentive to not something approximately all the different communities, i won't be able to work out the way it is an progression and for my section it makes issues worse. Why is Bernie even messing with this? The factors device isn't a super situation for followers besides, he could be concentrating his efforts to grant us genuine racing, tracks the place the drivers can overtake, autos that are actually not affected by turbulance adequate to over take, stewards determining the consequence, etc, etc. To be effortless i could particularly maximum of those previous fossils retired, permit's have some ex drivers and group vendors in contact in working the employer. The Midget has to pass, and we could desire he takes his whipping boy Mosley with him.

quali is fun now and reversing the order is just mad. i have been an F1 fan for many years now and have seen a lot of changes. i think it is almost right now but even more changes are in the pipeline. i don't think McLaren have walked it yet. at the end of the day if you don't find it exciting you can always turn the TV over and watch something else.

the main problem in formula 1 is not Lewis now or Michael before . there has being always teams or drivers eras a team win for a couple of years another team beat him and win for the next couple of years (mercedes ,williams, mercedes, ferrari ,renault,..) the main problem in formula is rules . the new rules are sucking all the fun from the sport .i mean how can a sport like F1 have a rule like engine sealling for 2 GP or cost reduction??? this is not right .NEW RULES SUCK!

i am completely opposed to rewarding failure and punishing success, in my opinion f1 is as much about engineering as it is about racing, my idea for promoting overtaking is reducing aero, first and foremost ripping off all barge boards and winglets, the cars would be allowed 2 aero surfaces, one front wing and one rear, and i would reduce the size and the amount of elements for each wing, that way when a car is close enough to pass it wont wash out in the draft, or at least be less inclined to do so, widen to wheel base to help promote mechanical grip

Brilliant idea and in football we could give all the bottom of the league clubs a five goal start. That would soon put the likes of Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs etc in their place 'struggling !'
