Unless it is medically necessary to have a child early induction is not the safest route to go. Average first pregnancies are 41 weeks 1 day & pregnancies with prior births average 40 weeks 3 days… It is optimal to be patient and wait until your body & baby are ready. Intervention usually leads to more intervening, and having an induction can put you at a higher risk of having a cesarean section, something that despite being the most common surgery in the U.S. carries many, many risks.
Some safe ways to try to bring on labor at home are:
Walking. And especially up & down stairs sideways. This helps the baby navigate the pelvic bones and allows the baby to put pressure on your cervix aiding in dilation.
Squatting is also good, both before labor & during. Before labor you can do squats to strengthen your legs for long periods of squatting during labor as well as stretching the joints & muscles associated with squatting. It also helps the baby put pressure on the cervix. And during labor it can open your pelvis up to 33% more, allowing more room for the baby to squeeze out!
I have heard good things about red raspberry tea (drink it chilled, hot it is gross!) It is said to strengthen your uterus, thus causing your contractions to be more efficient.
Sex or more specifically semen and orgasm are said to help you to release more of the natural labor-inducing hormone Oxytocin. And Sperm/semen contain prostaglandins another substance that is synthetically produced and used to aid in dilation!
Nipple stimulation is also another way to get your body to produce Oxytocin, as well as help to toughen up your nipples for the task of breast feeding that lay ahead!
I hope this was helpful, a great book about labor & birth is:
The Thinking Woman’s Guide to a Better Birth by Henci Goer
I recommend it to all expectant parents!

it's truthfully actual that intercourse can support to urge hard work, when you've got an orgasm yoour frame releases extra hormones. I recognise that plenty of caffiene can begin or support begin hard work. Not a lot goes to get a hard work going except your little one is equipped seeing that it is a chemical published from the toddlers mind that begins it. There are meds. a dr can deliver if you want to set off hard work however provided that there's a well purpose. I would not take a look at some thing with out first speakme for your health care professional despite the fact that. Good Luck

Hey,
Try walking...
Try having relaxing baths because when your relaxed the baby is an most likely going to come.
Have rough foot rubs apparently it can help labour come on...
Try swimming doing breast stroke...
Try drinking raspberry leaf tea it will help with uterine contractions and also shorten the pushing stage of labour!
Maybe you can also move some furniture in the lounge room or bedroom...
Bounce on a birthing ball/exercise ball.
I had a sweep and stretch and my son was born 15hours later. So you might be able to ask your doctor for one each week...
They don't hurt the baby in anyway, and it can bring on labour.
But also you must remember babies come when they are ready not when we are!
Good Luck

walking really helped me. i walked around the park or mall once a day and i stood up as long as i could. the pressure i believe made my daughter come on out. i told my sis in law to do the same thing and she started labor after walking more and standing more.

Intercourse can actually help soften the cervix which will help it to open naturally. Your OB may also be willing to scrape your membranes which often has the effect of causing labor to start.

Sex, walking, pinapples, cod liver oil (yuck) depending how far along you are. None of this will work unless your little one is ready to come out
