Defining a vehicle as a 'classic' has absolutely nothing to do with its age!!
The Bugatti Veyron is already regarded as a classic, simply because it redefines the motorcar. Some cars will never be 'classics', no matter how old they are. A classic car is a matter of opinion, not age.
For a car to be classed as 'vintage' it must be over 25 years old.
For a car to be classed as 'veteran', it must be over 50 years old.
For a car to be eligible for the historic vehicle ('classic') road tax, it must have been registered before 1st January 1973.

A car depreciates in value every year until it reaches rock bottom. Eventually the price starts to rise as the car starts to look 'funny' or 'quirky' compared to the modern cars on the road.
It's probably at this point the seller describes it as a 'classic'
in an attempt to get silly money for a heap of old junk.
The Ford Capri (UK) is now considered a classic.

It is 25 years...... but I feel that should be changed.... is a 1982 ford escort a classic or antique?? Nope.... many 80's and up do not fit the Classic role, a couple do, but %95 dont, about %80 of the 70's cars dont fit it either. When you have a 79 thunderbird, that 300K were made.... its not a classic..... sorry.

It is 25 years and then you don't have to worry bout car tax............
