Yeah, but I would use the description that politics is the battered wife syndrome of the masses. The political parties make all sorts of promises (like a battering husband), but they keep delivering the same. Like a battered wife, they keep going back for more of the same, never really expecting the politicians they vote for to change.

"Opiate of the masses" is something made up by Karl Marx. If any one thing gets everyone's juices flowing, it's the Power Ball Lottery when the prize goes over 100 million dollars.

In the west it is that still belongs to television. Although the Internet is a very close second. In the developing countires, Religion still holds the position.

The mind numbing that is claiming the ability of the Human Race to think for itself will lead to its utter destruction.

As George Carlin once said, "before humans it was the earth, after humans it will be the earth with plastic".

Nobody is interested in my idea to form local Philosophy Clubs either, especially the women. The single ones must know that they will for once be overwhelmingly outnumbered by men if they go. Anyway, they just hate the idea and there is nothing I can do to interest women in philosophy and politics. They. Just. Don't. Want. To. Know.
