I have a wedding to go to in August. The people who will be there are my hubby's family members who haven't seen me in a while. I have changed a lot since they did. I use to weigh 260 lbs, had grey hair and walked with a cane. I now have lost a LOT of weight, have dark red hair (my original color) and am a hobby runner and a weight lifter, and had my teeth capped. I look very good for my age now (50). I need suggestions on the type of evening wear I should purchase for this wedding. It is going to be very hot and the little country church where the ceremony is isn't air conditioned. What kind of fabric is the best to wear under the heat situation that I am going to be in? Also I have excess skin on my arms and legs and need to comoflauge as much of this as possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Ah, Prairie Crone with Red Hair, your 'original colour'.
What a marvel ! How long is your Glorious Mane ? On its own, it is a thing of its own. Don't wear Black: not good for a Wedding in August & methinks it will not reveal enough your 'originality' and I'm certain your unique sense of Humour.
I am not one for Flattery - check my Q/A's.
Cover your legs, so that you can forget about them.
DON'T COMPROMISE ON SHOES. I can run run in High heels, how are your feet ? If acceptable: Play all the Way - emphasis on Colour. Experiment beforehand with a Professional pedicure: if you look after your feet from now on, they will return the favour.( promise: hope to die).
Coton/silk sleeves will not make you too hot.
How your Shoulders & Breasts & Back & nape of the neck ?
If acceptable: SHOW !
Whatever colour you choose, remember the Shoes.
Just be your joyful Self : you'll make a Fine Witch !( Do your Eyes, of course).
Laugh, it is your Best Forte !
Have Great Fun Prairie Crone, our Funniest fan !

Maybe you should try linen in a pastel color like a sage green that's assuming that your eyes are green or baby blue which ever color compliments your eyes the most. As far as dress style . . . I think am empire waist looks good on almost everybody so maybe a baby doll dress with sleeves. You can dress up a casual sun dress by adding a little bling to your accessories and make it perfect for a wedding, That way when your feet start hurting at the reception because of the great shoes you wore you can add a pair of flip flops to your getup and still look stunning.

Good Luck ! !

I would wear a high waisted skirt suit with a really light jacket. Or even a pant suit. Something that covers your trouble spots while still accentuating your figure. Or maybe a menswear inspired vest over a white shirt. Hot though, not frumpy.

I included some pics of what I mean. Good Luck.

A SHARP Capri pants outfit and short sleeve top. Get a pedicure and wear some pretty shoes- sandal like. You should be able to tell when you try it on- if it is going to be hot.

I think Capri's can look nicer with right shoes than just plain pants. You probably wouldn't be able find a dress- all of them would show your arms.

If you have a Dillard's in your State try them.

My suggestion would be to wear something that shows off your fabulous new look! You worked for it and if I were you I'd be dying to show it off. Find a nice dress made out of a light material like cotton that hugs your body, no sleeves, and a v-neck. Remember that evening weddings are more formal so if you went with a little black dress it would be perfect. Hope that helps!

Wear a dress in your best color [ peach? teal? ], preferably in a cotton blend.
Make sure the waist is fitted, the skirt is flowy and to knees, and I suggest flutter sleeves to cover arms. Get a neckline as low as you dare.
Wear comfy shoes so you can dance all night long!

You must put on a satisfactory get dressed, no longer white and no longer the colour of the marriage ceremony celebration. Have the get dressed duration be correct above the knee, your younger exhibit that off! Make certain to accessorized, with the best jewellery
