Sounds like either the fuel pump has quit or your fuel filter is plugged.
Is this a diesel or gasoline powered car?
On the diesel cars they are critical when it comes to keeping fuel filters changed on a regular scheduled times
Gasoline filter are a little more forgiving, however, once they plug up they will give you fits.
Make sure you have power to your fuel pump. There is a fuel pump relay/fuse in your fuse box located under the hood on the drivers side. Read the listing inside the fuse box to determine which fuse is dedicated to your fuel pump, also, can you hear the fuel pump when you first turn on the ignition switch? if you can't thats another hint the pump isn't starting...Just make sure there is power to the pump and it hasn't lost ground.

Hi, I have no idea what the problem is except maybe a blocked fuel filter or faulty fuel pump but if you Google mercedes forum, you'll find places where experts will give you a hand figuring it out.
Good luck and let us know what it was.

I concur with the other answers. It is definitely a fuel delivery problem. Start with the fuel filter, then the relay/fuse and pray it isn't the fuel pump. That can run some big bucks.

You either need a new fuel pump or you have a clogged fuel filter.

Likely candidates are: Fuel pump, filer, injector rail (rubber hose part) or fuel pressure regulator. Good luck.
