I'm sure that the liberal elites who summer in Martha's Vineyard are deeply troubled by the lot of the underprivileged. Each morsel of Lobster Thermidore that they eat, no doubt weighs heavily upon their conscience...right?

We Liberals are not hypocrites as you try to portray us.

Yes, I am rich and a Liberal. While it is true I have a beautiful home in the Hamptons, and I count many luminaries as my close, personal friends, I have a lot of concern for the environment and the less fortunate.

Some of the Kennedy clan had brunch at my place last weekend, and they were hopping mad about tricky Conservatives trying to destroy the scenic beauty of the oceanfront near their compound with ocean-based wind power generators. While the Kennedy's strongly support this technology, and advocate its widespread use, why should it mar their view? Can't they put these ugly contraptions where less esthetically-demanding people see them? You know, where they have freight ships sailing and such?

Your snide question tries to portray us as insensitive hypocrits. However, did you realize that we are drinking FRENCH champagne? No migrant Mexican workers were abused by evil American corporations to make our drink of choice. Sure, we could save a few bucks by buying the domestic stuff, but we put our money where our mouth is... literally.

You are Right-every politician is rich-they will never understand the life of the poor, granted some were poor themselves than became rich. But the difference between those liberals in the Hampton's and the conservatives is that the liberals try to help the poor. They may live in a mansion but they still focus on things like education, helping the inner-city, getting the middle-class a tax break, free health care etc. Unlike the conservatives who want tax-break for the rich, helping out corporate America. So whose less admirable now?

Would it be better if they despised the poor while sipping champagne? How about if they picked a poor person and gave them all their money? Would that poor person be wrong if they sipped champagne after they got the cash? Maybe they should only sip Maddog 20/20. Is it the champagne thats bad or the sipping part? Maybe they should slurp.

I am losing track here. Do you hate rich people or people who support traditionally liberal ideas? You might not know it but some people who support conservative ideas are also rich. Political ideology of one type or another isn't a requirement for wealth.

Stir the hate if it makes you feel good but I don't think your helping anyone here.

I kind of think people talking about people being poor and why they might be poor is a start. Istead of just hiring lots of cops and building jails.

Building some universities, feeding the potential terrorists, giving folks some real opportunuities, even a 50 cent handout or loan is sometimes even better than just talking.

You have it down and while talking about Martha's Vineyard it is interesting how Robert Kennedy Jr and Uncle Teddy ensure how all the proposals for wind turbines off the Vineyard's coast are defeated even though wind energy is what they propose for us to use in place of oil just not in their back yard.

I thought Republicans said there is nothing wrong with being rich

Bottom Line

No difference between Democrats and Republicans

I should say Politicians

They line their pockets and laugh at everyone else while we argue which political party we believe in.

Special Interest and the Super Rich have them in their pockets

I see, because there are rich democrats who actually think about the poor, they're hypocrites. It must be heartwarming to be rich, republican and non-caring. I happened to notice that the republican held congress didn't do anything about minimum wage for the eleven years they controlled congress. I understand they were concerned that the people who could eat lobster might have to pay a little more. Very thoughtful of them.

Wealth doesn't negate altruism. However, I personally detest the rich who tell others how to live their lives (use efficient cars, appliances, etc) when many of them don't practice what they preach. I don't hate liberals per say, I hate hypocrisy.

I am sure they are just as troubled as the rich conservatives who spend the summer vacationing in resorts around the world.
