Some have said that this is a meaningless poll and that everyone is against terrorists. The poll is important in that it shows we can agree, for the most part, on some things. It also shows that 15% DO NOT feel we need to defeat terrorists.

I support our military 1000%...regardless of how I feel about this ongoing war in Iraq/Afganistan...what piss me off is these politicians pretending to be the general and military commander saying how we need to do this, that and playing monday morning armchair nonsense without any concrete solution...we are already there, we are at war and we need to support out troops.

ps: say, by the way you look awfully like me. lol!!

nobody in their right mind supports terrorists, so the cnn poll is meaningless.

I support addressing the problem of those who will do us harm, unlike the commander in chief and his cabal who seem to be more concerned with the question of "how can we divert more public money into the private coffers of our friends?"

EDIT- Walter, when you think about it the poll really does not indicate that 15% say anything. This is such a flawed premise, and the repubs have been using such data to support straw man arguments since 9/11, e.g. "there are those among us who would have us surrender to the terrorists.."

Blah Blah Blah

Bad questions yield bad answers and flawed data, and the whole thing is rubbish, every last bit of it.

For Example:

"Do you think that people who kidnap and torture children should be punished? Yes or No"

this doesnt tell us anything about real viewpoints or real issues (such as the nuts and bolts as to how the repubs are allegedly winning this war and keeping us safe).

Wow... A statistic that means absolutely nothing...

It's just as bad as asking "Do you support clean water?"

Of course everyone wants terrorists defeated. Now the hard part comes in defining a) who is a terrorist? and b) how do you defeat them?

Americans love using general labels and abstract ideas to support their arguments.

So I ask again... who's a terrorist? That's a better question...

By the way... how's that "War on Drugs" coming along? Have we killed them all yet?

And most of the Iraqis that are fighting us are NOT terrorists, regardless of what a few White House policymakers would like you to believe.

The Us alone cannot defeat terrorism-this needs to be a global fight. Once we change strategies and actually try to unite the world into fighting terrorism then we might win,

The problem isn't Judaism because many fine American jews have organized and are working as hard as they can to educate their brethren about the war crimes and other atrocities being committed by the Israeli government. I see two problems: The Israel Lobby composed mainly of American jews willing to mortgage the future of their own country for the benefit a foreign power, and the corruption of Israeli society by military power and wealth. Don't turn your back on the many jews, especially younger jews, who oppose the monster that Israel has become.

The question is skewed. Of course people want to defeat terrorists - there would be no reason not to want to stop those who want to perpetrate random acts of violence.

Terrorists live in every country in the world, and belong to every possible group of people. 'Defeating terrorism' is not possible, however steps can be taken to minimize and prevent it, if the goal is managed on a local as well as a wide scale level, with police, security, and special operations.

Terrorism will continue to thrive as long as people are unsatisfied and uneducated. Tackling the root source is a more noble and realistic goal than tackling the symptoms that follow.

We've been expecting this war since my family fled Islam in the 1950s.
Surprised so many of you tolerate sedition and socialism in America, regardless of which side of the political aisle it is aimed at.
Plays right into the hands of our enemies.

Terrorists? If you ask a liberal about terrorism, they'll insist that it's all just a bunch of fabricated lies from the republicans trying to scare you. And that if there are any actual terrorists, then they deserve consitutional rights like other American citizens! Personally I would like to see us fight them cell to cell. Get them BEFORE they get us with no media coverage, no fan fare, and nobody aware of how close we came to another 911 before it was prevented by our special forces.
