Get a stereo mini (male) to stereo mini (male) cord from Radio Shack or Best Buy. (The ends of this cord will be identical to each other.) Plug one end into the headphone jack of the tape player and the other end into the "line in" or "mic" jack on your PC. Go to the sound mixer in your control panel (on your PC) and set it for "line" recording and set the recording format to "stereo MP3" at a 128 bitrate. Your computer should already be equipped with a media player/recorder software package. Once you select that and get it started, you should be able to hit "play" on your tape player and hear it through your computer. Then all you have to do is set the record volume so you don't get distortion. Once you've done that, just cue up your tape, hit record on the PC, then hit play on the tape player. You should be getting a recording. But it's not until you hit "stop" on the PC that you will be given the option to name the new recording and store it where you want. Once you've gotten everything recorded to PC, use your CD burning software to simply drag and drop the songs you want to burn to CD.
Good luck!

Connect a walkman into the line in socket of your soundcard, press record on an audio recording program and then play on your tape player.
You might need to experiment with audio levels (tape player and PC), and use effects such as dehisser (there are programs that can do this bit exclusively).

there is program called Audacity which my grandson downloaded of the web for me. I used a tape recorder plugged into my mic socket and it stored the sounds digitally and I then burnt them onto a CD. I will see if I can find the URL
