Yeah, star trek rules!
But what about that episode (Voyager) where Ensign kim is taken away to another planet and has sex with like 4 women (I remember b/c it's the first and only time I saw a asian male/black female kiss, on T.V). Or that episode (TNG) where data has sex with that alien women. I always wondered why they didn't really persue a romantic relationship between janeway and chakotay
You're right though, it conveys a society that we can only wish of becomming. I remember watching star trek with my father and idolizing Uhura, (she was the first black woman on star trek, for those who don't know).

*now I'm off to watch my star trek dvd's*

Star Trek is good, but has a little too much of a typical liberal-Hollywood world view. Star Wars and Stargate are generally more conservative and actually have many more shocking and realistic stories. I'd say that any of the Trek shows would be appropriate for kids except Enterprise which had lots of sex and drugs, although the same amount of violence as DS9 or VOY.

Its a good show, but some people might view it negatively and say that they don't want their children exposed to some left-wing, liberal, Utopian thinking. I don't believe this but there are certainly enough Let-the- children-die-while-I'm-making a profit Right Wing Republican's who do think just this.

I like Star Trek.

I've been watching Star Trek since I was a baby (literally, and not kidding), and I didn't turn out too bad. So people tell me.
