I'm going to a wedding as a date of one of the guests (a cousin of the groom). I haven't been given much guidance (any!) on what I should wear. I don't know what kind of wedding it is...formal/informal, day/evening, inside/outside...really nothing! I might talk to my date before hand, but I really like him and I don't want to look like a worrier. I just want him to show up and have me be wearing something sexy (obviously not too sexy, so maybe just pretty) that fits well with the occasion. Any suggestions that would not make me stand out too much regardless of the occasion? General guidelines to follow? Thanks!

If i were you i would just call him. Let him know that you need to know if it is a formal or more casual wedding...if you dont want to put it to him like that then just ask him what time it is at...if it is evening go a little dressier, daytime a little more casual.

another suggestion would be to choose a simple black (or white is really big this summer) dress, not too short (maybe knee length or a bit longer) then have 2 sets of accesories, one more formal, one mre casual. do your hair down and choose the accesory set that more goes with what your date is wearing when he picks you up...

BUT i think it makes the most sense to just ask him for details and tell him it is so you can plan what to wear...

You can ask what TIME the wedding is without seeming like a worrier. That might help you a tiny bit (day or evening) If it's evening, wear a little black dress wit some strappy sandal/heels. If it's day wear a pretty sundress type dress :) Good luck!

1] find out if it's formal [ long dress, tuxes ] or semi-formal
[ short dress, suits ].
2] find out the setting - indoor/outdoor, day/night
Guidelines:
a] don't wear white, ivory, black [ overdone ] or the colors in the wedding party.
b] formal - requires gown or cocktail dress
c] informal - cocktail or church dress
d] casual - sundress
Always wear comfortable shoes, so you can dance as long as you want.
Bring a pretty wrap or jacket.
Carry a very small purse with ID, debit card, comb, lipstick.

Since it's summer, a nice summer dress would be cute. A pale color but NO WHITE!!! or black, unless it's classy black......like skirt or blouse....but no jeans...or tank tops. maybe you could ask the groom, he should know!!!
