Yes! 2012... shall be the year of reckoning. 2012 shall be remembered in history of mankind forever. Why?

From the position of planetary movements and astrological calculations... the significance of number three for present civilization is immense. The 12th year of 21st century totals number three.

Talking of 2012 means... we have already stepped into the 21st century which numerically totals three. The 12th year also totals to three. A significant upheaval on the whole shall be the order of the day.

Adharma (lawlessness) would be rooted out for ever. 2012 and beyond is the period of spiritual elevation. 2012 rings start of golden era. Beyond 2012 it shall be harmony and peace all over.

The society would have learnt its lessons. Unethical practices and wanton desires would take a back seat. The lure of money and position would cease to exist. A pot of gold found lying in the backyard would not have a claimant!

The glitter of gold and diamonds would be passé. The spiritual wisdom would become the order of the day. 2012 is the year of sacrifice. Both... the sinner (committer of crime) and the innocent will be sacrificed. One who has committed crime shall face the gallows. Those who uphold and cherish values in the society would sacrifice their lives for the sake of humanity.

It could be just like Y2K a whole bunch of guessin without any knowing..You take your pick

extremely, 2012 is genuine. It comes after 2011 and till now 2013. it is likewise real that there is a Mayan day-count quantity calendar (utilized by utilizing Mayan astronomers as much as around the 10th century) the place a date we call 2012.12.21 could have had a around discern (13.0.0.0.0) interior the Mayan's weird and wonderful counting device. it is likewise real that presently after that date (someplace around February 2013) the area we call 'wintry climate Solstice' would be interior the midst of the Milky way (what we now call the Galactic equator). The Mayan astronomers could have prevalent that (interior the previous days, all and sundry knew on the subject of the precession of the equinox, which consists of the Mayans, the Greeks , the Babylonians, the chinese language, the Indians...). it is likewise real that 2012 is an Olympic 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. --- something is crap. The sunlight would not line up with the Galactic centre (it won't be able to). The planets do not line up (2012 is extremely a destructive 3 hundred and sixty 5 days for planetary alignments). No asteroid on a collision direction. Planet X, Nibiru and Nemesis are innovations by utilizing charlatans who had predicted the top of the international for... 2003. Magnetic polarity reversals take 5,000 years on customary... and we are actually not even particular that the subsequent one has even began.

December 21st, 2012 is the last of the last times through the Mayan long count calendar. With a calendar that lasts thousands of years, I'm sure they just figured they had time to take a break in continuing writing it. That's it.

All the fuss comes from the notion that the Mayans calenar prophecies of the past have come to pass in some very specific ways. But, as far as the end of the long count, the Mayans saw it as the end of an age more than the end of the world. And let's face it - look around - this age really could use a swift kick in the butt.

You really would serve yourself better with worrying about your everyday than a meteor impact. Anyway, we just had a near-miss frm a meteor just a short while back...did ya die?

This is the year that the Mayan calender ends. However, there is no supporting evidence that the world will end as a result. As to why the calender ends remains a big mystery that many have tried to explain but if you look at the current astronomical data, you will see that the object that poses the most danger is 2004 MN4 in the year 2029. Asteroid 2002 NT7 has a low strike possibility in February of 2019. Unless the good folks at NASA overlooked something, we will be opening up our Christmas presents December 25, 2012. Besides, the world was suppose to end in 2000. But we are still here. CHEERS !!!

Dec. 21, 2012 is when the Mayan calander comes to an end.

Various people have made dire predictions because of the end of the calendar. But the truth of the matter is that this is the 13th time that the Mayan calendar (the "long count") has come to an end. In other words, it's exactly the same as when we reach Dec 31. What happens then is that we get a new calendar and start over with Jan 1 in the next year count. And that's what the Mayans did too.

The only fly in the ointment is that the Mayans believed that all things come in cycles and the end of this cycle is supposed to be accompanied by much strife and other nasties.

i am very sorry , i hope you don't consider this a stupid answer.. but everyone has their own believes right ?
The world wont "blow up aha " un till another thousand years , our society will figure out a way to adapt to all the worse things that are happening. Or i have a feeling that IF worse comes to worse... they will start transporting people to the new planet they have discovered with its own sun ..bla bla bla.
we will figure a way to deal with Global Warming.
I doubt there will be a 3rd war ,.. if there is its going to be over water.
I'm extremely sure nothing will happen on 2012, DEC 12th.
do you remember back in lets say ... 1998? when everyone started to get VERY scared about the world coming to an end and all our power stopping in the year 2000?"Y2K"? I sure do... nothing bad happened at all.
i strongly don't believe this will happen..
and I'm VERY sorry please don't bi*ch at me 4 this ah-ha.. but um, i honestly think that anyone who believes all this stuff that reads in the bible... are in a cult... honestly that's what it is... its something that makes people believe this all happens... how do we not know that some "cracker" wrote the bible years and years ago? nobody was healthy back then... why would you believe someone then?
sorry but those are my "believes"...
don't worry , calm down, nothing bad will happen!:)
until the day you see the earth is spilt in half... melting... freezing... what ever every ones ideas on that is ... then you have something 2 worry about .mmky sweetheart?:)

Have a good one!

Others have correctly pointed out the Mayan calendar source of the year 2012. People have been saying the world will end for as long as there've been people. They're either extremely misguided individuals, or else they're just trying to cash in on people's fears. Either way, don't listen to them. Even if they're right, what can YOU do about it?

Nothing, so all you CAN do is enjoy what you have while you have it. "Tomorrow is promised to no one." This is true even if the Mayan calendar had a year 3012 on it.

And as for asteroids - if they knew one were on a collision course with that much time in advance, they could easily deflect it with an ion engine. It would only take the tiniest of nudges to change its course enough to make a huge difference in where it will be 5 years from now. Now if they only see it 6 months out - THAT's when its time to liquidate your assets and go party, rape, pillage, sit in one spot hitting your head like Rain Man, etc.....

A half a kilometer meteor is enough to wipe out the life on earth. Now if its a 3 mile one.....the earth might split in to half or explode into bits of small pieces. But its not a big deal...we die anyway so it doesn't matter how we die. What matters is what you do before you die. Either you can run around circles or you can do something to help mankind. End of this Universe will come...but when only GOD knows. And thats all i need to know. I dont care if a giant meteor hits this earth or passes by. lol

Take time to watch at least ten minutes of the video ("ZEITGEIST, The Movie - Full Production" in Google Video), especially the last five minutes.

Click on the white play bar at 18:00 to 30:05.

What the video talks about is the zodiac rotation revolving the sun in relation to the earth entering the new age to reset "time" after the lapse of over two thousand years.

You may find this difficult to believe, but I find it amazing and fascinating.

Sir Isaac Newton was obsessed with investigation of the universe (his research strictly confidential to escape ridicule and persecution on accusation of heresy) to unlock the secrets forecasting the end of the world (age) to reset and introduce the new age according to the rotation of the zodiac.

Mayan long-count calendar END in 2012 while Isaac Newton, derived from hard calculation, wrote the small numbers on the margin "2060" indicating the Apocalypse/Final Judgment.

This is the last date on the ancient Mayan's calendar. They have predicted that the magnetic poles will shift at that time. Supposedly, bodies of water will spill over their banks, volcanoes will erupt, and earthquakes will rumble. Scientists have also predicted that the magnetic poles will shift, but they say it will happen gradually and we won't really notice it. Don't waste time being afraid. People have been making predictions since the beginning of time. The majority have never come true. Just to be safe, stay away from water and fault lines on that day. All the predictions say there will be survivors.
