I'm wanting to make a baby blanket for my friend. I've got a yard of fleece fabric. I was going to fray the edges and tie it, but the fabric lady said the baby could choke on the ties. I need an idea for a simple blanket that isn't harmful to the baby.

You can also just finish the edges with blanket stitch using embroidery floss or bright yarn or with a silky blanket binding.

honestly i havent heard of such ridiculous dribble
i mean yea i think its possible for it to happen but i have lots of friends ive made fringe fleece blankets for and have yet to hear of one of them dying because they choked on the fringe
if youre careful and dont put the blanket in with the baby when they are unsupervised i dont see the problem with the fringed blanket
how old did this fabric lady seem to appear?

Yeah I agree. Try putting in wacky colors and patterns into it. Babies often enjoy bright colors.. If its a baby boy then how about little trucks or cars? If its a baby girl, then some delicate flowers would be nice.

try making a crazy quilt topper and use the fleece for backing. my baby loves her crazy quilt because of all the colors and patterns. red and black are supposed to stimulate their minds but use any bright colors and large bright patterns to keep them busy. its so much fun to watch them discover the different colors, patterns and textures as they grow and will make a nice keepsake later. quilts dont have to be made with small patches so think large, use odd shaped peices with different textures and have fun.

you could turn the edges, or cut the edges with pinking sheers and sew the edge. I use a serger and crochet a trim around the edges.
