I've checked some sites but am still unaware of any projected date for the conclusion of this fantastic series. It rivals LOTR IMHO.

It's a bit more graphic than 1984, but not over the top. The HBO series ramped up the sex for ratings. There's no bodice-ripper kind of play-by-play that goes on for several pages. I'm not one for gratuitous sex either. Like in Pillars of the Earth, where the sex scenes detracted from the story, and seemed to be added to appeal to bodice-riper fans. Song of Ice and Fire didn't bother me in the sex department. The only thing that got wearisome was the paragraph describing what a character was wearing every time the walked down a street. I don't think I needed to know so much about the flashier character's wardrobes :) That said, the series was still a wildly entertaining read. Pick up the first one from the library. Give it a try. If you don't like it, you've risked nothing.

I agree. Song of Ice and Fire is fantastic. Though the last one wasn't as good as the ones that came before. Hopefully, the next book will be out soon.

In the meantime, you may want to try Luthiel's Song. It's an excellent story.

He's a great writer, but the books are foul, as far as I'm concerned. There is way too much gratuitous cussing in the books for my liking. He could have easily advanced the story-lines without all of that. And to answer your question, the release date keeps getting pushed out, it's sometime in 2008 last I heard.
