Question about my fridge?

I have a fridge that I bought in 2002, it was working really good until I moved late last year. I notice that after a few hours after I pluged it in it is still no cold air is coming in but the freezer works fine. I have it check and he said he can't find something wrong with it, he said to unplugged it and let it thaw for 24 hrs. because there might be ice that is blocking the airflow, so I did and after that I t works fine again. After a few months it did it again no cold air coming in so I unplugged it again etc... I don't really know why this is happening it is a frost free fridge. Any advice please.....

your defrost heater more likely has gone out or the terminator
here is how it works, every 8 hours or so the defrost timer will shut down the compressor and fans and turn on the heater element for 20 minutes,If the heater was to stay on for 20 mins it would melt the plastic in the box,not pretty,so a terminator thermostat is hooked into the system so that when it gets around 50 degrees F in the space,the heater element shuts down, you need a heater or a timer or a defrost thermostat. you can get these items at :

Couple of things. Sometimes ice blocks the air flow from an interior fan and doesn't completely thaw. Ice may be forming because the door is left open, even just a little ajar, sometimes.
A very common problem is the temp setting has been adjusted incorrectly. When you start a fridge from "off" set the temp dial low, like at 3. Wait for the fan/compressor to stop. Wait a few minutes, increase dial by one number (only one). Repeat until desired temp reached. This may take a whole day or more. Be patient.
Also, be sure the door seals are intact, not leaking air.
Another thing. If a fridge is ever moved on its side, let it stand upright 12-24 hours before turning it on.

call another repairman who knows what he's doing there is a defrost timer an a tube like heater to keep frost melted It is a common problem after about 5 years I just had to have mine replaced part an labor was 175.00 Good luck hope this helps

even a frost free fridge will ice up. It sounds like ice is blocking the flow somehow.

i've seen this problem before. When I encountered it, there was a leak in the seal between the fridge and freezer, causing water to leak into the fridge from the freezer.

i had a frig that i bought in 2002. the compressor went out in it already. in your case it sounds like the fan that blows cold air into your frig area is freezing up until it wont blow cold air anymore.

Your defrost cycle is not working, either the defrost clock, heater or safety switch is not working all part of the defrost cycle.
