Contradictions are found by those who have no concept of the context or purpose of the scripture, or the culture of the time, which are at times required to understand the meaning and significance of what you are reading.

For example, "an eye for an eye" refers to a guideline for HUMAN LAW (How to legally deal with people who don't want to play nice) in the Old Testament which basically states the punishment should suit the crime, but written in a time and to a people who commonly understood that they would have their hand cut off for stealing (so they can relate).

You cannot compare it to "turn the other cheek" which is a posture to take when abused or taken advantage of, for a follower of Jesus, Christ.

All it takes a little thought, a little study, and a dis-like for ignorance. It took me a long time to come around. God bless you guys.

Bible difficulties, or apparent Bible contradictions, exist. The opponents of Christianity often use them in their attempts to discredit Christianity. Sometimes these attacks undermine the faith of Christians who either don't understand the issues or don't have the resources to deal with them.

Opponents of Christianity will cite what they consider a Bible contradiction or difficulty by comparing one verse to another (or more) that seems to disagree with the first. In doing this, several verses are often referenced as being contradictory or problematic. Therefore, to make this section of CARM easy to use, it is arranged by verse for easy lookup. Since many of the same "difficulties" deal with one verse in opposition to another or even several others, I have listed all the verses addressed in the same answer. This makes the initial list look larger than it really is. For example, how many animals did Noah bring into the ark? Genesis 6:19-20 says two while Gen. 7:2-3 mentions seven. Therefore, both verses are listed and both links point to the same answer.

If we read the Bible at face value, without a preconceived bias for finding errors, we will find it to be a coherent, consistent, and relatively easy-to-understand book. Yes, there are difficult passages. Yes, there are verses that appear to contradict each other. We must remember that the Bible was written by approximately 40 different authors over a period of around 1500 years. Each writer wrote with a different style, from a different perspective, to a different audience, for a different purpose. We should expect some minor differences. However, a difference is not a contradiction. It is only an error if there is absolutely no conceivable way the verses or passages can be reconciled. Even if an answer is not available right now, that does not mean an answer does not exist. Many have found a supposed error in the Bible in relation to history or geography only to find out that the Bible is correct once further archaeological evidence is discovered.

The contradictions in the Bible are between the covers and in the minds of "the believers" that disagree on every major point in their "religion".
1.all of mankinds Races could not come from one man and one woman;black women do not have white children, chinese children, indain children when mating with a black man..cats have multi colored offspring, humans do not
2.science proves mankind has been around alot longer than 6000 years
3.The flood story would have changed the atmosphere to where all mammals would have drowned and I forget how many hundreds of animals per second would have had to have been loaded on the ark in the time frame alotted but completely ridiculous amount, research it on Yahoo

There are no contradictions in the bible.
People who do not have a relationship with God can never understand it though, because God's Spirit must be interpreting the Book He wrote internally to a believer for there to be understanding.

All the supposed contradictions come from those that don't believe, and to whom the scriptures are sealed, except for those that speak about salvation.

1Corinthians2:11-14 Says:
For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned

The bible is foolishness, a myth, folklore, full of contadictions to those that don't believe because they don't have the witness of the Holy Spirit saying: "This is Truth"

The whopper...

Trading understanding for the words of God. The words of God make one a follower. That is not why we have a rational mind capable of any thought.

Understanding is what rationality can find but we don't often find because we are diverted by the word of God as truth, but we speak of it as belief, a contradiction. Note: Even true beliefs have bad consequences because they stop the search for understanding and keep us making ignorant decisions.

However we are also diverted from the actual source of understanding by science and objectivity. Understanding comes from understanding a particle of existence and the only particle to which we have complete access is self. If you read the bible for understanding you are looking in the wrong place. All these things are the contradiction of you!!!

You may start in Genesis the very first chapter... The light before the sun, Day before the sky,The greenery before the sun, The stars after the earth. This is only the beginning so perhaps you should read your Bible instead of listening to some preacher fill you full.

The Bible was written by dozens of authors and each had their own perspective. From there, there are many many contradictions ... two stories of creation in Genesis; things like quotes "No one can see God and live" and "Moses spoke to God face to face as a man speaks to his friends" ... and in the New Testament the order of Christ's last days are all mixed up from one gospel to the next, but those are different authors.

There are no contradictions as only the Old Testament is the truth. The New Testament is the one with problems.

The only contradiction I can see is that you are commanded to be 'selfless' by using 'selfish' methods. The rest is a collection of legends and fables from oral tradition.
