It really depends on where you live, and whether you live alone or have one or more roommates. Living alone in a major city could easily cost a couple thousand dollars a month for the items you list - living in a smaller area, with a roommate, you might get by for around $500 for the items you mention.
Don't forget other expenses such as food, clothes, transportation, entertainment, and miscellaneous expenses.

It really depends on where you live. Housing is much more expensive in San Diego, California than in Bentonville, Arkansas for example.
