I was married in 1978 in Virgina by a Justice of the Peace. The marriage was a secret. A year later I married the same man by a minister in Maryland (just as if we had never been married). In 1992 we got divorced by the Virginia court, although I was living in Maryland. The divorce papers show the marriage date as being the 1978 date. Now I am getting married again in Maryland. Will Maryland still consider me married? Will they do a record search if I don't say anything or will they take the divorce decree as good enough?

Jeez, I was married in two neighboring states, not even 20 minutes apart, not "all over the US". Maryland and Virginia border each other. Get the facts before you judge.

Are you marrying the same person you married in 1978? Just kidding. I think the divorce decree will be good enough.

You have to stop getting married all over the USA, I think you need to clean the slated in all states to get the divorce closed.
