i would highly suggest purchasing a typing program mavis beacon is probably the most popular one for adults however, the children's typing programs are very effective as well, even though they say they're made for children. Type to Learn is the one I learned off of, and currently i type at about 80wpm

Try talking to your friends more often on online messengers. I talked on msn a lot during middle school and when I took my computer class in my freshmen high school year, I had average of about 80 wpm. Also download or buy software programs. There is a whole bunch on the internet that you can play online or download.

Get a screen name if you don't already have one. That's what helped me become a faster typer. Also, if you really want to improve, don't use the shortcuts on Instant Messenger like 'u' for 'you,' because that will force you to type faster. Good luck!
