The New Deal did not keep the American economy from going down the tubes, it was already there when he took office. The only thing the New Deal did to rally the American people and give them hope. I commend him for this and he was a very tremendous man. But to say he ended the Great Depression(which you didn't actually say) is absurd. Herbert Hoover probably didn't do much worse than FDR, had FDR been elected in '28 he probably would have been thrown out, and the public would have been calling for a laize-fair ( I do hope that is spelled correctly) president. EDIT: I probably should say there was some minor economic improvement during the New Deal. And of course he wasn't a socialist.

Last I heard, he finished a short run on Broadway with Chicago and is working on new material...he's been in the game since the age of 14...made millions of dollars..his last album quietly went diamond..over 10 million copies sold worldwide...he tried to do some acting but his last movie "Dying 4 Dolly" bombed....he wants to have successful acting career...he's done a few movies but nothing big like Beyonce or Jamie Foxx...even Ludacris, T.I., and Macy Gray are becoming credible actors....so he is probably trying to study his craft ...taking private acting lessions..Ne-Yo and Chris Brown out there...he's got to work harder with his ceographer for the next music project and he needs to make sure the album is super tight....he is the Micheal Jackson of this generation.
