The way I look at it is the Mets are way out of luck I cant believe Mets have never got a no hitter through all the time that they been around... who knows if Rockies will ever have one they will have to be on the road because at home who knows...also to add they have had 18 One hitters though thrown by 11 pitchers.... 5 by Tom Seaver

As a Yankee fan who despises the Mets, I have to say... It's probably just chance. The Yankees went from 1958 to 2003 -- the Mets entire history until then, and then some -- without a no-hitter against them. Some truly great pitchers never throw no-hitters, and some no-hitters are thrown by Who's That? All the World Series the Yankees have played in, and the only no-hitter in postseason history was pitched not by Hoyt, Gomez, Ruffing, Reynolds, Ford, Hunter, Guidry, Wells, Cone, Clemens, but by... Don Larsen?
I have a feeling that when the first Met no-no is thrown, it'll be by somebody totally unexpected. Maybe somebody like John Maine, who's an okay pitcher but nothing special... yet.

I've seen 6 one-hitters by Met Picthers.
Nolan Ryan - 1970 vs. Phillies
Gary Gentry - 1971 vs. Pirates
Jon Matlak - 1973 vs. Reds
Dwight Gooden - 1984 vs. Cubs
Bobby Jones - 2000 vs. Giants (NLDS game 4)
Glendon Rusch - 2001 vs. Red Sox
The two by Gooden and Matlak were as close to
no-hitters that you can get; them, and Tom Seaver's
"near" perfect game, whne he retired 26 Cubs before
giving up a hit in July, 1969.
It'll eventually happen....and I hope before Shea Stadium
closes next year.

difficult to assert... no hitters are a difficult to foretell. Boston's Jon Lester threw a no hitter 8 months after Clay Buchholz's. the single previous to that became Derek Lowe in 2002 (preceded through Hideo Nomo in 2001). It would not take a astonishing pitcher to throw a no-hitter (Jose Jimenez and Tommy Greene did it), yet a lot of significant pitchers under no circumstances threw one (Steve Carlton and Greg Maddux for instance).

No-hitters are unpredictable events.
Yes, considering the team has had aces like Seaver, Ryan, Gooden, Cone, Koosman... it seems one would have popped up by now. Eventually it will. But we cannot know when.

first off the nolan ryan deal was not their worst trade ever, scott kazmir for victor zambrano was, Ryan didn't want to be a Met, better they got something for him then have him retire, which he claims he was considering... Kazmir was an established prospect, who they traded for an old nobody...
Tom Seaver and Gooden never did it, not just as Mets...
The Mets time will come, I am not worried...

I think believing in curses is just plain silly. They never did it b/c they never could get it done. No hitters are not as easy as people want to think.
