I am directly descended from Charlemagne, William the Conquerer, Henry I, Henry II, Henry III, Edward I, Edward II, Edward III, Henry VII, Mary Tudor, Mary, Queen of Scots, James I, Charles I, Charles II, and James II, the latter several through illegitimate lines, but the ones before that through legitimate lines. I am also directly descended from the Percy and Spencer Families in England. I don't expect I can do much, but I figure it is worth the effort, seeing as how there is nothing to lose.

If you have the money, why not apply to the College of Arms and Heralds in London for a personal coat of arms?

Of course you are...unless you worship in the Church of England you have no right to anything royal (even Catholics in the line aren't included). Mary Tudor had no children so you can't be related to her...and I certainly wouldn't want to be related to Charles II seeing as though he's our only monarch who lost the crown to make the UK a republic for a short time. As an American we'd just think your 'links' to our very old royal families who have no links to the current one as ridiculous.

"Statistically, most of the inhabitants of Western Europe are probably descended from William the Conqueror; they are equally likely to be descended from the man who groomed his charger."

Unless you are a direct descendant of Anastasia Romanov, I wouldn't worry about it. Otherwise, file your ancestry away under the title of something to tell the children about someday. What have you done lately so that posterity can remember you?

actually as the world sees royalty today? i'd bask in the dying embers of daylight & follow through with knowing what once was is "was". close the page, get on with today & plan for tomorrow. your past is your past. with that in mind, your prior pedigree (not to mention having $2) can get on a nyc bus. as the old commercial once stated, "starkiss wants tuna that tastes good, not one with good taste." in other words, and without complete acceptance of your ancestors, whoop-tee-doo!

You can trace it. The End. I'm related to Abe Lincoln and I don't expect special treatment.
