Without war! That's the incredible thing. If there were war and shooting and whatnot, I could certainly understand.
But Mexico is at peace and still so many want to leave.

Actually, Mexico is doing quite well on the whole. For the most part (Not All), their lowest income people and criminals come to the US.
People from the U.S. and Canada are moving either Full time or Part Time to Mexico in Record numbers.
Dull John is right. Before Rome fell, the Middle and Working Class, along with most of the Wealthy moved to the Eastern Roman Empire in Constatinople, and Flourished for another 1000 years.

Let's see, there was the Irish potato famine, the Russian Revolution, in fact, just about every war or revolution or famine there ever was displaced large numbers of people. What's different about Mexico is that it's happening in peacetime!

Plenty of times, due to war and disease. Even in the U.S.: After our Revolution, a lot of people still loyal to the British crown fled to Canada. And then there's the mass migration of blacks from the rural South to the industrial North in the early 20th Century. As President Truman put it, "The only thing new in the world is the history you don't know."

Mexico is very corrupt and has a large rich/poor gap. We are their enabler by not forcing them to stay in Mexico. If they were forced to stay it would put more pressure on Mexico to change.
It is time to stop illegal immigration. It is hurting us AND Mexico.
Mexico is in the top 10 wealthiest nations on earth. There is no reason that they shouldn't have the standard of living that we do.

Mexico isn't that bad. Most of Africa is worse. But immigration might be higher there than elsewhere since they have somewhere so great that they can go that's nearby. And the fact that it's richer than Africa might help people leave it, since they have more money to use to leave. And immigration might be higher there than in other places in the past since modern technology makes it easier to leave.

Yes it happened in England a few hundred years ago. The descendents of those that fled now call themselves "Americans".
