Are all of the measurable dimensionless parameters that characterize our universe calcuable in principle or are some merely created by some historical or quantum mechanical accident and incalcuable?
If space is expanding, what's it expanding into?
If neither matter nor energy can be created nor destroyed, how did it get here in the first place?
In the big bang, where did the spec of dirt that blew up come from?
Where does gravity come from?
Why don't electrons in atoms slow down unless they come in contact with something else? Perpetual motion is supposed to be impossible.
If there's no such thing as a perfect vacuum, what is inbetween particles in a deep vacuum? (it's a perfect vacuum...)
And the ultimate question, Why?

Is there a Higgs boson? The equations say there is. We haven't found it.
There is not enough visible matter to hold the galaxies together. Where is the rest of it? Scientists call this "dark matter," and think very hard about where it came from.
The Universe appears to be laid out in bubble-like surfaces, with voids surrounded by spheres of stars. Why does it look like this?

All of these are important questions that we will likely be able to answer in our lifetimes:
What is "dark matter", which accounts for the majority of the matter in the universe?
What is "dark energy", which accounts for the slight acceleration of the expansion of the universe?
Is there life elsewhere in our solar system?
Is there life on Mars? (Promising Candidate)
Is there life on Europa? (Promising Candidate)
Does the postulated Oort Cloud exist?
Are there other "Earth-like" (approximately the same gravity, also within the "life zone", has continents and water oceans) planets in any nearby solar systems?
