And when I say some people, I don't mean just Conservatives (like myself--Even though I think global warming is real), but why are people from all political stances skeptical of what Al Gore is saying.

Maybe we should hear more from actual scientists and less from Al Gore.

So many scientists have stepped up to deny consensus and to deny that AGW is real despite being persecuted for doing so.

What that means is, the scientific community is against the concept, plain and simple.

So a reasonable person sees this and asks themselves, whats up with that. We hear on the news that the world is going to end, but the scientists are saying it is all baloney. So then we go duh? it is a political lie used to gain more of our money and control of our lives.

No wonder people are skeptical, it is coming from the UN who wants to run the world and is pushed by Gore who is a joke, and pushed hard by the socialists in congress. ANyone with half a brain would be dubious.

BTW, it may be warming today but it will be cooling soon. It is part of a normal cycle, and any human who thinks they can impact it one way or another is just plain stupid.

Some Simple Facts:
Yes, there is Global Warming. It has happened before and it will happen again. Example: Middle ages, the global warming was obviously caused by man then also.

The Ice caps have melted, on average, an insignificant amount, causing the sea level to rise an insignificant amount. I have heard claims that 40% of the ice caps are already gone. If that were true, the sea level would have risen 3 feet. Serious misinformation.

Man contributes only minimally to global warming. I have heard claims that 90% of Climate scientists say man outright caused the global warming. That is an outright lie. The figure is more like 10%. Maybe 90% percent believe that Man CONTRIBUTES BUT NOT CAUSES global warming. Misinformation.

Global warming is a political tool used to divert attention from Big Oils raping of America. It is the latest in a line of intentional distractions by politicians. As others have said the “flavor of the month”. What has your politician done about Big Oil. Probably nothing or misinformation.

Global warming is real but used by Alarmists by horrific exaggerations and careful misinformation. These Alarmists spout various facts and figures with little or no truth while denouncing anything that contradicts their views. I often think their actions remind me of psycho sports fans who freak out if you dare to say anything is wrong with their team.

There is good in the global warming debate. It will reduce pollution and increase energy efficiency. I don’t need lies and misinformation to get me to believe that.

It is not the fact that there as been a minuscule raise in global temps that is being debated. Temperatures have gone up and down for millions of years. At one time the land I live on was covered in miles of ice. What is being debated are the actions some want to take to hold the planet To a constant temperature. 1) we don't know what the ideal temp for the earth is, when we had that condition, how it came about, and if we are still too cool now. 2) The effect mankind has on global climate is debatable and setting economic and social policy on the if come seems rather foolish to the cognitive set. 3) How do we know climate change is a bad thing, it might be a good thing. 4) Al Gore is certainly no trained scientist, why should I take the ravings of a political hack as real science? 5) why are all the solutions offered by the sky is falling crowd directed toward modern man living a smaller less wealthy life, when everyone knows it takes wealth to bring a clean environment(the poorest countries on Earth are the most polluted) 6) why are all the solutions offered by the sky is falling crowd those that demand government control of my private property, my personal choices, and the prosperity I am aloud to enjoy. I take the treat being proposed by the GW advocates seriously I just recognize it for the communist garbage it is and will continue to oppose any changes in my life style for the good of the state

What you're saying is yet another manifestation of what Bill Maher said all the way back in 2000: "They like what he stands for. They just don't like HIM." If it was somebody "likable" saying it, there would be far fewer skeptics.

Al Gore would have been far better off in a parliamentary system, where he could be leader of a party that would be elected district by district and then become Prime Minister. His problem is that he'd be a really good President, but he'd have to win first. And I mean beyond all doubt. He doesn't have that whatever-it-is that makes people say, "I like him, I want to vote for him," the way Bill Clinton had and the way George W. Bush had before people realized just how incompetent he was. On the Republican side, Bob Dole had the same problem: No matter how much of a point he may have had on an issue, he scared some people and angered others, and had very little chance of winning.

Gore is the kind of man who makes people say, "I hate it when he's right..." But he is right.

I don't dispute that in this phase of time, that the earth is on a warming trend. Neither do I dispute evidence that the other planets in our solar system are warming.

Therein lies the biggest problem; We are all warming, but earth is the only one populated with humans.

The common denominator is the sun.

Now, when I crest the hill leading to a heavily populated city and can almost touch the dome of haze, I'd say that city has some clean-up issues to care for . . .

The majority of us out here, clean up after ourselves, and reuse what we buy (I'd bet many do so 'cause they are frugal).

Many actual scientist say this is not likely caused by man.

Moreover, the earth regenerates and evolves . . . being prepared for extreme change would be in our interests, rather than trying to harness natural cycles of the planet.

"Maybe we should hear more from actual scientists and less from Al Gore."

I totally agree. Way too much focus is placed on Al Gore, when all he did was present the scientific evidence for man-made global warming. He didn't collect the data, he didn't analyze it, and he didn't draw the conclusions. He simply presented them in a book, powerpoint presentation, and movie.

People don't like to take global warming seriously because they don't want to believe we're all responsible for it. Our lives would be much easier if global warming didn't exist and we could all continue driving gas-guzzling SUVs with nothing more to worry about than high gas prices. Many people are irrational and will find a way to believe what they want to believe, and unfortunately there's a lot of misinformation out there that makes it pretty easy to latch onto the GW skeptic perspective. All you have to do is turn a blind eye to the scientific evidence and listen to Rush Limbaugh or someone like that.

Well it seems plausable. Climate change has happened many times before in the history of the earth. So it could change again.
I think many people feel as though good old Al is asking a too much of them. Sell your SUV. Buy a Prius or a bicycle. Put solar panels on your house. Give up the American dream and go green. While this is admitteldy a somewhat of a straw man argument, it feels threatening to most people. They don't want to give things up.
Some of us have the perception that Al is hypocritical. He lives in a huge house that takes much coal produced electricity to light and natural gas to heat but he's asking us to make sacrifices. Everybody don't make CO2 so it won't be so bad when my huge limo makes some.
They also may believe that climate change will not affect them. If you live in Detroit, for example, who cares if the temperature in the winter goes up a few degrees. I'm not going to argue if this is realistic or not.
Also, it is science. Scientists do not talk to Jesus on the phone to get their information. They use data and make models of the earths climate system. While their models may be plausable and make a lot of sense, they are still models of the earth and it's climate system. It's not the real thing. So putting too much faith in them can be dangerous as well. There are some real questions still out there. Is the recent increase in global tempurature due to CO2 levels rising? Even though they track each other pretty well it may not be causal. And is human activitiy responsible for the recent increase in CO2 levels?
As important as the climate is, it is not the only important thing. A bad economy can kill lots of people too, like having people in poverty and starting wars and such. So we must be careful not to make changes that are too radical.

Global Warming is nothing NEW. They were feeding our parents this BS in the 70's. The earth has cooling and heating periods, thats no secret.

I'm reeeally going to believe Al Gore. The same Al Gore who "invented the internet". OH thats a good one.

It's all a crock of dung.

I believe the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) is doing a great job in helping animal species survive (even if it only delays extinction).

Actually, a lot of people DO listen to what scientists have to say. I think you give Al Gore much more credit and attention than he deserves.

In fact, I'd go so far as to say that conservatives and global-warming-naysayers give Al Gore more attention than anyone else on the planet does.

Because Al Gore is using fear to push a political agenda, just as the Bush Adminisrtation is using terrorism to pursue it's policies.
