New job. Potentially more money and job security and benefits. However, new life and Alabama isn't exactly the cultural and societal mecca that Boston is.

Try something new. We get so parochial in Boston and tend to believe culture doesn't exist anywhere else on the planet. You can always move back if things don't work out!

Huntsville is completely different than most people's impressions and scenes of rural Alabama. It has the highest income per capita of any city in the South and is a very vibrant city with a lot of diversity since it attracts varied and educated people to work with the space program and defense contractors. I have a friend that moved to Huntsville and was skeptical, but when she got there could not believe amount of cultural opportunities available.

No Huntsville is not a social Mecca like Boston is.It is a whole lot cheaper to live there however. If it advances your career, then do it.It won't last forever and the city is big enough to have most of the amenities that you might want.

Huntsville and Boston are totally different but Huntsville is a growing city. Huntsville offers more than you probably think it does but it is less than Boston.

I have a friend that moved from Syracuse, NY to Atlanta, GA. She had a great job opportunity and she never wanted to leave, but she has absolutely no regrets 5 years later. In fact, she rarely ever wants to come back. If it's truely a great opportunity, why pass it up?? It could make ALL the difference in the world later on in life. You never know...you could meet your Southern Belle down there & marry the love of your life!!

you won't even notice a difference. jk

If your that skeptical about you probably shouldn't move. You sound like you would look down on the people, so they probably wouldn't welcome your superiority complex.
Boston is far from what you describe it also.
