you dont have to, but it is a nice gesture... especially if your vehicle requires extra work (lowered, lifted, etc) and if he/she is friendly...

I had a special circumstance where I tipped the tow truck driver... I was on my way to work and my car broke down on the highway in the winter... I waited and he showed up and he took me to work so I didn't lose my job... I gave him $20 it was a nice gesture. AAA covered the tow... However, regular circumstances I would say no...

i never have...i guess if you were really nice and he saved you from a serious stuck position...maybe it would be nice...but remember he is paid hansomely for each pickup!
