how do I beat the dark elf in FF IV advanced?

I know I have to survive but he does way to much damage and I can't make it that long in the battle. So please verify it and don't say anything wrong or else you won't get 10 points.

If you can't survive long enough, then that means you have to level grind a bit more. Also, it helps how your party is arranged. I usually do mages in the back and melee in the front.

First of all, I don't care if I win best answer or not. So don't start threatening people with 10 points if you don't like their answer. That's just lame.

Now on to the answer.
The cave you're in won't let you use metallic weapons. Therefore you're going to need to go back to the castle where Prince Edward is and get his 'twinharp' from him. When you get to the Dark Elf, he'll play his twinharp which will mess with the Dark Elf. The battle will end, you'll take a step back and that gives you a chance to re-equip all your normal equipment (metallic and all) and heal before refighting him. Once you're there, you should haven't a problem. Just keep your healer healing and your Paladin protecting.
