The White Sox will have a hard time demanding much for him because he is in a contract year meaning that whoever trades for him will most likely just be renting him until the end of the season. I would look for an early round draft pick, a late round draft pick, and a pitching prospect. Or a major league utility player, or bottom rotation starter, and a pitching prospect. I wouldn't be betting the farm though on a blockbuster type deal though. Most rumors are pointing at a trade with the New York Mets if one happens at all but I would look for Chicago to try to sign him in the off season.
Whatever happens, you won't see him go to the Phillies for Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins, or to the Yankees for A-Rod, or some other crazy deal unless they (White Sox) find an absolute idiot GM to sucker... maybe he will go to the Rangers for Teixeira!
By the way - I wouldn't say that Buehrle is a wash-out with nothing left in the tank. He has thrown a no-hitter this year and is sporting a 3.45 ERA which is a full point below the league average. The fact that he's only won 4 games isn't totally his fault, he's pitched well enough to be a 10 game winner already. The lack of run support is out of his control.

He's a free-agent so the logical option is to trade him before the end of the season (if they don't plan on keeping him)...they can, of course, sign him to another long-term deal but the way the Sox have been playing lately, they might get rid oh him, Crede, Iguchi and Dye before the season is over (since they are all free agents after this season).

Them most you could get for Beurhle is a 2nd round draft pick or a has-been or a never was because hes coming off a bad year and is not doing anything spectacular. The smartest move would be to trade him along with two minor league players for a first round pick.

I think they'll send him to the Mets for one of the Mets young pitchers (probably Humber) and Lastings Milledge (this is assuming Jermaine Dye is no in the deal).

a beat up pitcher with not much left in the tank?hmm..probably a middle relief old man who a team doesn't want any more.
they'll get even value but no prospects. if they get prospects then you have to have williams a gm of the year award.
