Is there an overnight train that goes from Cluj-Napoca directly to Budapest Airport? I thought I read somewhere that there was, but I can't find it now.

I checked the schedule for June 29, a Friday.

Cluj-Napoca to Budapest Keleti Pu (train station)
19.55 dep......5.17 arr. (2 changes)
22.22 dep......7.22 arr. (1 change)
03.22 dep......9.42 arr. nonstop
*** This last train starts in Brasov at 19.59, so if you want to get on the train earlier you could take an afternoon trip from Cluj and backtrack to somewhere on the train route. It shouldn't be too expensive.
As for getting to the Budapest airport, according to www.gotohungary.com,
the minibus is the economical way to go from the airport, but Hungarians will be helpful if you ask someone on the train if there's a stop closer to the airport than Keleti Pu.
You may be able to take a metro to somewhere close to the airport and take a taxi from there.
For internationaltrain schedules...
Check the website for Austrian Railways, you can search all over Europe!!

Hi, here's the site for MAV, Hungary's train company. I remember leaving Cluj around 9 in the morning but that was during the week. At that time (2 years ago) the only public transport to and from the airport was a bus that ran to a metro station, no train station at the airport. Hope this helps!
